Coach Tyler is a native of Irmo and has been competing as an athlete since he was 7 years old. He attended Ben Lippen High School where he competed in football, basketball, soccer, and track & field. After his stellar career as a high school student athlete, Tyler earned a football scholarship to the Citadel where he played for four years, earning All-Conference and All-American honors during his career. While at the Citadel he help lead them to the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs (FCS) twice, a win over South Carolina in 2016, and two Southern Conference titles. After his collegiate career Tyler became a free agent signee with the Atlanta Falcons and made it through the entire pre-season and just missed making the final 53 man roster.
With Tyler’s passion in the fitness, sports performance, and person to person relationships, he found hisself coaching at Orangetheory Fitness. He coached at Orangetheory for 3 years in the role of Head Coach at Orangetheory Lexington. Orangetheory is where his professional relationship with Boozer began.
After his time at Orangetheory Tyler then moved on to work for SORINEX Exercise Equipment and while at SORINEX Tyler found his way in continuing his fitness coaching by reconnecting with Boozer at Alpha One Fitness a gym that he owned and later found more fitness coaching success at Basecamp Fitness.
Tyler continues to work for SORINEX as a Project Manager overseeing the flooring and equipment department. He is married to his lovely wife Julia Renew (Coach Julia) who they have a beautiful baby girl named Blakely. Tyler also finds time to coach high school football at Hammond as the tight ends coach.
Coaching at Bodyshop brings a lot of joy and excitement to his mornings and weeks. It provides him a lot of opportunity to grow in the fitness world and expand his knowledge. Group training has never been foreign to him, but the personal and performance training has become a new and exciting component. He loves hearing the goals of everyone and being able to help them find success.
